COSMOS Team Meeting
University of Kyoto
Kyoto, Japan
May 23-27, 2005
Meeting Host: Yoshi Taniguchi

Goals for meeting:
  1. Define science program of COSMOS survey:
    1. is it realistic and well-balanced ?
    2. necessary resources ?
    3. major science issues missed ?
  2. Define Co-I planned research
    1. personal commitments/collaborations for near term papers (Aug 1 submission)
    2. have a 'Science Steering Committee' to oversee/resolve overlaps: Scoville, Renzini, Taniguchi, Lilly, Sanders, Hasinger, Schinnerer, Elvis, Impey, Kneib, Giavalisco, Mobasher -- i.e. major PIs + originators -- review and discuss this on the first day
  3. Review the current status of the survey, catalogs, releases.

Primary topic: Survey Datasets & Products (Scoville, Lilly, Shopbell)

9:30 - 9:40Taniguchi & Ohta: Welcome/logistics
9:40 - 10:00Nick Scoville: COSMOS Science and Status Overview
10:00 - 10:10Discuss setting up of Science Steering Committee (SSC) to: moderate conflicts, spread science fairly, and track/require progress (10m)
10:10 - 10:25Patrick Shopbell: COSMOS Data Summary spreadsheet
Patrick's summary is in order to be able to enable the presentations to be extremely short and focussed just on issues needed for team discussion -- not all the steps involved in taking and reducing the datasets!

The talks below are intended to provide a BRIEF update on each aspect of the COSMOS survey data (avoiding summary info already provided in the spreadsheet). Please cover:
  1) major developments in the past 3 months -- e.g. a new mosaic, newly submitted/accepted proposals
  2) issues/problems anticipated which need to be discussed by team
  3) needed future augmentations desired to dataset -- e.g. better processing more integration, new bands.
It would be nice for each speaker to include ONE (and only one) preliminary science result -- if possible -- just to keep people awake!
